The Jane Goodall Institute Hong Kong (JGIHK), a registered charity founded in 2002 by Dr. Jane Goodall, a renowned ethologist and UN Messenger of Peace, operates in over 30 global regions, including Beijing, the UK, Canada, and Singapore. We inspire youth to lead in sustainable development and promote social-environmental harmony, having educated over 130 local schools and universities with integrated enjoyment.

The ocean benefits all living things, but it is still harmed by pollution. When the ocean falls ill, our shoreline reflects its symptoms. Every year, over 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the ocean. Many of them ended up on our shorelines, in wildlife and us -- A study estimates that 90% of seabirds have plastic trash in their bodies. Plastics and chemicals attached may also lead to diseases in us.Shoreline cleanup is the first step we all can take to counter marine pollution.

Each year, JGIHK partners with corporations and the community for shoreline cleanups, removing over 55 tons of ocean waste since 2020. The campaign also educates beyond just collecting marine debris.
